Cuttlefish bone casting:
The process of cuttlefish casting is an ancient sustainable technique which has been used by jewellers for hundreds of years. The cuttlefish bone is used as a mould making and casting material by pressing or carving into the bone. The molten silver is poured into the mould. What is created are beautiful textured items. These are then used to create unique jewellery pieces.
Cupped Granulation:
This is a technique whereby a surface or part of a surface is covered in tiny granules of precious metal. The technique is thought to have originated 5,000 years ago in Sumer and is a process I enjoy using on some of my designs. This particular ring has cupped granules which are made by drilling out the centre of the granule hence creating a cup shape.
London Blue Topaz:
London Blue Topaz is a type of topaz known for its dark blue colour that some describe as “steely” or “inky.” It is regarded as the most valuable of topaz because of its saturation of blue colour. Usually London Blue Topaz is produced by exposing topaz to radiation, and heat treating the stone gives it its inky colour.

Hallmarking standard state all silver items over 7.78 grams will need to be hallmarked.
