Out of all the various franchises and genres my designs cover, Tron is by FAR the one which people seem to love and resonate with. Honestly… that kind of gives me a real case of the feels. The original Tron was one of the highpoints in my bloody awful childhood, one of the real touchstones which got me through it, and it’s very heartening that so many people out there seem to share my love of the Tron movies and Tron in general. I know Tron Legacy got a bit of a panning from the critics but I’ve always had great respect for the care Joseph Kazinski showed for the history of Tron, so it’ll always be special to me. With that in mind when I was making a list of the wall plaques I wanted to design, Tron HAD to be on it. Since the disc is the image of the movies everyone remembers the most (apart from the Lightcycles; I’m on that, don’t worry) the disc it just had to be.
This plaque is based on that disc. It doesn’t have the open centre of the Tron Legacy-style disc, instead it has a lowered centre section with the logo rising from it, picked out in the same translucent-fluorescent material as the highlights. I have to stress this so I don’t get any complaints: THERE IS NO LIGHT SOURCE IN THE DISC. The blue glow in the photos is from illuminating the plaque with an ultraviolet torch which makes the translucent-fluorescent PLA biopolymer glow with a blue light. I can also print the highlights in different colours. I’ve added the photo of the Tron Legacy coaster (available elsewhere in my store) printed in the different UV-fluorescent colours which I currently have available; pink, orange, yellow, green and the translucent-fluorescent which glows blue. If you don’t want it to glow then there’s also the option to have it in either blue or orange (which I’ll print in a nice silk-finish material just so it looks a bit snazzy).
If you lose your disc or fail to follow commands you will be subject to immediate de-resolution…
On the rear, recessed into the plaque at the top and bottom, are two 10mm x 20mm x 2mm neodymium magnets (the really strong ones). Supplied with the plaque will be two small steel plates with special non-permanent double-sided tape. This means you can hang your plaque on the wall without damaging the paint/wallpaper/whatever, you can easily take it down for cleaning, and if you buy any more of the upcoming plaques (I’ve got LOTS planned) you’ll be able to swap them around at will whenever you want to freshen up your decor a bit!
