Tree of Life suncatcher, garden art, made from entirely recycled products.

Serengeti Sunset.

The copper wire wrapped tree is made using reclaimed bare copper electrical cable and the disc is a yellow to orange graduated tint spectacle lens. The full size optician lens didn’t pass the muster for being made into spectacles, and so I repurposed it into these charming suncatcher rather than it being put through the recycling process, much more eco-friendly. Once the wrapping is complete I oxidize the copper with liver of sulphur to add patina and hand polish with wire wool and polishing cloth.

Copper loop at the top ready to hang in your garden.

The lenses used in my suncatchers have been checked to make sure they are farsighted (negative, diverging) lenses, which means that they dissipate the light rather than concentrate it (like reading glasses) therefore they would not cause a hot beam of light that could start a fire.

This item is not suitable for children

Perfect garden decor gift for the nature lover or optometrist student.

Approx dimensions:
70mm x 90mm

It all started when I turned my least favourite pair of Docs ( I own many pairs of Dr Martens boots) into my favourite pair by painting them with The Walking Dead images, then I customised boots for my nerdy family including Game of Thrones boots, Deadpool and Skyrim boots. After publishing photographs of the boots online I started getting requests from around the world. This lead to me naming my business Pimped My Stride.  I now customise all sorts of things, from glassware to dog collars, bags, boots and baubles, but the most popular items at the moment are my not-on-the-high-street hand-engraved hanging ornaments. You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest and in person at Wonky Rocket’s Comic Con events in the North West of England.
