Description
This framed picture features a floral bouquet of spring pastels of red, pinks, and white – give a gift of flowers that last forever!
In these small bouquets, inspired by a few years working as a florist, a background of shades of green is laid down with frit and enamels, and then this is decorated with hand placed individual pieces of frit (glass granules), carefully selected for size and shape. A piece of glass is added to represent the vase. These squares are then fired to a textured fuse in one my specialist, digitally controlled glass fusing kilns and annealed (cooled in a controlled way) for strength and durability. It then goes back into the kiln for a second time to attach the smaller piece to the base glass, which is usually sublty shaded with background colour to add a bit of extra depth of dimension.
The frame is made from oak coloured ‘polcore’ to complement to colours of the flowers. The frame can either free-standing or wall hung. The frame is approx 13cm square and 2.5cm deep (5″ x 1″)
All pieces are unique and made by hand in the studio in Derbyshire.
