Description
I turned this small bowl from a tree that grew opposite my house. Sadly the council cut it down due to it causing damage to the pavement however I managed to save some of it to make things with. This bowl is food safe so ideal for putting nuts in or other nibbles. I turned this bowl when the wood was still somewhat green so it has warped slightly after turning giving it a really unique shape instead of just being a circle.
I turned this bowl as a challenge to see how thin could make it. It is exceptionally difficult to make things this thin as they bend on the lathe.
This bowl has a finish that is entirely plant-based that is a blend of natural oils and carnauba wax making it very sustainable. The finish is hard-wearing but when the day comes to refinish it to ensure it stays looking fresh it couldn’t be easier. I use Uulki wood wax which is inexpensive for a small pot that will last you forever and it is extremely easy to apply.
