This beautiful mirror is small but perfectly formed. It is unique. You will receive the actual item in the photographs.
The mosaic is influences by traditional Islamic and Moorish design. It is intricate and detailed, with the focus on symmetry and geometric patterns. it is designed with iridescent art glass tiles, iridescent and opaque recycled glass mini tiles in subtle shades of grey, accented with square silver-plated beads.
I love using iridescent tiles as they bring a piece alive, contrasting with the different textures and finishes of the other tiles and the metallic lustre of the silver.
The colours are incredible. The photographs do not do justice to the real beauty of the iridescent tiles – they shimmer blue, green, purple, gold and silver when the light catches them.
The back is 4mm mdf sealed with silver enamel.
Dimensions 22.5cm x 22.5cm. The mirror is 7.5cm x 7.5cm offset at 45 degrees.
Hello! My name is Carol Ahmed. I have had a lifelong love of mosaic and having recently given up work, I have been able to spend more time creating mosaics. I love designing – playing with pattern, colour and shape. I was always the kid ( and the grown up to be honest!) making patterns in the sand with pebbles and shells. . I like combining mosaic tiles with other materials – especially upcycled jewellery and beads, but also other ‘found’ materials: driftwood, stone etc. I search for interesting objects to upcycle and use as bases or detail. I like to recycle and re-use whenever possible. I also like that an object that is individually sourced will suggest ideas for designs and colours to develop in the finished item. Some of my pieces have strong geometric patterns, influenced by Moorish and Islamic art and architecture. Other pieces explore curves, waves and spirals, inspired by the natural world and classical mosaic art. Each item is unique, finished with craftsmanship and attention to detail.
