This unusual plaque of Irwyn II, has been inspired by the Green Man plaques seen in the eaves of old churches. The Green Man was a pagan symbol which was adopted by Christians as a way to encourage people to come inside and worship in their churches. They are a symbol associated with fertility.
This Green Man has been made from stoneware crank clay and finished with a blue glaze. It still retains the idea of leaves coming from the eyes or mouth of the man. Traditionally oak or vine leaves were used and I retain this tradition. All my Green Man range are frost-proof.
Irvyn II is approx 18 cm in diameter. He has 2 holes to enable him to be screwed to your wall or fence.
I am a self-employed potter working from my own studio using stoneware clay. I enjoy making quirky, individual items to enhance the home or garden.
Whilst some of my products have a natural textured finish, others are bright and cheery, but all involve me creating individual, hand built ideas inspired by myths and legends or the natural world.
My daughter Em deals with the business side of the pottery. This ranges from organising my website and facebook page, book keeping and pricing. She is also a dab hand at selling my products
