My name is Eleanor and I have combined two of the great passions in my life – nature and art – to create my shop.
My passion for creating began as soon as I was born. Mummy always said that I never slept – I was just too interested in my surroundings and nothing has changed – my brain never stops thinking. Whether it be planning, drawing, sewing, knitting, crocheting…my life is full of thinking and creating. Thinking about creating, and creating to stop thinking is a great oxymoron in my life!
After I left university, about the time that life became more serious, I noticed a big increase in my creative output. As a primary school teacher, I was able to create within my job, but it wasn’t until on maternity leave with our first daughter that I really started to see creating as a necessity that I couldn’t live without.
I loved school, and my thinking was always a big help. It got me lots of shiny grades and certificates. I was offered a place to read Human Sciences at Somerville College, Oxford, and my thinking was going to take me to great places. But instead of going out into the world, I retreated and craved the comfort of home! My over-thinking may have something to do with it…
But as well as well as worrying about life, I thought a lot about things to make. I love creating things for our home, or my nest as I like to think of it! Recently however, drawing and painting has taken over my creative mind. Inspired by nature – if not snuggled at home – I am happiest in the countryside. My favourite place in the world is Dartmoor, but I am also super happy elsewhere in Devon, Cornwall, the Cotswolds and our home here in Hampshire. But to be honest, I think I would be happy anywhere that has fields, trees, animals, hills and rain!
Now I am a wife to my husband, a Mummy to three beautiful, creative and opinionated daughters, carer of a small furry menagerie and a part-time Primary school teacher, but I would love nothing more than to paint full-time.
