This glass tea light holder is perfect to sit on your window sill, or on your dinner table. Made with clear glass tinted with coloured powders in all the shades of the rainbow (and more), and then hand decorated with clear frit to add texture and to catch the light. It changes at different angles, as the colours of red, orange, yellows, lime, green, turquoise, blue, purple and pink reflect across each other.
Please note that as these are hand-made, the colour placement may be slightly different on some.
These handkerchief tealight holders are handmade – each square of glass cut indivdually, then frit is placed by hand, carefully avoiding what will the base, so it will sit flat.
The pieces are then fused and fully annealed in one of the specialist, digitally controlled, studio glass kilns, before going back in to the kiln a second time to be slumped to create the draped handkerchief effect. The fusing process involves several steps of controlled heating and coolnig to ensure the glass doesn’t crack and makes it as strong and durable as possible.
There is little control over the draping process, the the points sometimes are different. Each tealight is totally unique both in terms of decoration, and shape. The finished item is approximately 9cm tall and 10cm wide in both directions (it fits in a 10cm box!). Tealights are supplied with a safety battery tealight. You can use wax tealights in these, but please ensure the candle stays in it’s cup, preferably one of the glass or plastic ones, but never use a candle on it’s own, and never leave a candle unattended.
These items are handmade in my studio in Derbyshire, there is a large range of other colours available.
