I’m Paddy, an industrial graphics turned jewellery engineer/silversmith with a BEng from RGU Aberdeen & Intermediate Silver Jewellery from the London Jewellery School in Hatton Garden, London.
After many years as an industrial engineer, I decided to put my engineering workshop skills to more interesting use. I enrolled at LJS in Hatton Garden for courses in silver jewellery, silver clay, glass fusion and perspex jewellery. I started by experimenting with textures in silver clay and gifting these to friends and family. I have now progressed into having a cosy artisan studio in the true sense – with no electricity or running water! You will find that I am inspired by patterns and designs in nature, items that most people tread on or pass by. Most recently I have branched out into vitreous enamelling – I love the random effects produced by mixing colours and firing times. As a gold member of The Guild of Jewellery Designers in Birmingham, I now have PPL cover Worldwide (including the United States and Canada).
