Description

Designed in the 1930’s, the Percival Mew Gull is a wooden construction single-engine aircraft built for endurance racing. G-AEXF was famously flown by acclaimed air racer and test pilot Alex Henshaw who took the aircraft to victory in the 1938 King’s Cup 1,012 mile Air Race. Henshaw also attempted to take the England – Cape Town Record in this aircraft in 1939 and endured significant discomfort in the cramped cockpit for 39 hours and 25 minutes averaging 209 mph over a distance of 6,377 miles.

G-AEXF is now preserved by the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden aerodrome in Bedfordshire and regularly flies at airshows throughout the summer.

An A4 fact sheet on the Percival Mew Gull is included with your order.

This print has an edition limit of 250 and is individually signed and numbered by the photographer on the mount. The mounted picture measures 16×12 (41cm x 30.5cm) and is ready to fit into a standard 16×12 size frame available from many high street stockists. The actual photograph is 12×8 (30cm x 20cm).
