Needle Felted Highland Cow



Highland cows are the oldest registered breed of cattle in the world!
They manage a mash up of ridiculously cute and majestically noble effortlessly. This, alongside their friendly, inquisitive nature make them one of my very favourite beasts!

Say hello to Hilda – the nurturer and carer of the fold.
This mini coo measures at 3cm from floor to horn tip, is 4cm in length and 2cm in width.
Hilda is made from British merino wool using a needle felting technique. Her horns are lovingly shaped by hand, made from polymer clay.

Hilda is ready to move into her new home, however does come with just a few caring guidelines:
– She may malt just a little but do not brush her coat. If she gets a little dusty she does love a dab with a dry microfibre cloth
– Always hold her kindly and gently – she is a decorative item rather than a toy
– Although used to the harsh climates the highlands can bring, please do not get Hilda wet or leave her in direct sunshine as this may discolour her fine coat
– Please be aware that Hilda is a pretty lady and other pets may be attracted to her, she is best displayed out of reach of small paws

Product Enquiry

I began needle felting in 2014 when I made my first creation – a tiny bee!  I wanted to try needle felting after watching a YouTube video of how to needle felt a ball. I was fascinated how you could go from wool that has the texture almost of cotton wool to making something solid and 3D by stabbing it (with a lot of patience and occasional finger stabs) over and over again with a barbed needle.

I loved drawing for as long as I can remember. Initially working in pencil and acrylic when I was younger and now in digital, oil and wool in more recent years. Although I mainly work in fibre now I do still sketch and paint on occasion.
I draw inspiration from the things I love – cats, nature, animals, animation and cats (so much I mention them twice)

As part of my process I sketch ideas out first then normally make something completely different as I get carried away with the colour, texture or feel of the wool which you just cannot capture in a sketch.

When not in my day job in an office, I just love creating in my little work space, with a nice cup of tea, in my home in Kent. I do this while trying to fend off attacks at my wool from my hearing impaired, attention seeking, rescue cat David.

Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

NuMonday. I share information with NuMonday as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the NuMonday Policy and NuMonday Terms of Use.
Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies. I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.

Data Retention
