Muhammad Ali was a sporting icon and, undisputedly, The Greatest of All Time! This lamp is one of three designs that I am making in honour of this boxing legend. This second design celebrates Ali’s famous ‘The Rumble in The Jungle’ fight, against George Foreman, on October 30th 1974. Ali’s victory was by a knockout in Round 8.
Ali’s stance in the lamp’s design is based on a still photograph of the peach of a right jab that floored George Foreman in Round 8. Unusually, for this fight, Ali wore black Everlast gloves rather than his normal red ones. The lamp’s switch is neatly housed inside the end of Ali’s right glove—just press the end of the glove to turn the light on and off. An engraved, brass plate is fixed to the front edge of the oak base with details of the fight. An A6 Perspex-framed image of the exact moment in the fight that the lamp depicts, is also included.
The lamp is constructed from British-made, galvanised iron and brass pipe fittings, and painted with a black-gold acrylic paint. The 3-core electrical cable is encased in a hard-wearing, braided, polyester sleeve and is fitted with a 3 amp, UK plug. The lamp comes with a FREE 40W, 80mm dia. retro, Edison filament bulb.
This lamp forms part of the Wacky Lamps Collectors Range and hence comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
*PLEASE NOTE: This lamp is made to order. Please allow up to 14 days from ordering to delivery. As the lamp is constructed from industrial components the final piece might differ slightly from that shown in the images. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided with this lamp.
