Muhammad Ali was a sporting icon and, undisputedly, The Greatest of All Time! This lamp is one of three designs that I am making in honour of this boxing legend. This first design celebrates Ali’s famous ‘Thrilla in Manila’ fight against Joe Frazier on October 1st 1975, Ali’s victory was by a technical knockout at the end of Round 14—Frazier never came out for Round 15.
Ali’s stance in the lamp’s design is based on a still photograph of the punch that floored Joe Frazier at the end of Round 14. A replica pair of the red, Everlast gloves that Ali wore in the fight adorns lamp Ali’s hands, the right one of which contains the lamp’s switch. Just press the end of the glove to turn the light on and off. An engraved, brass plate is fixed to the front edge of the oak base with details of the fight. An A6 Perspex-framed image of this moment in the fight is included with the lamp.
The lamp is constructed from British-made, galvanised iron and brass pipe fittings, and painted with a black-gold acrylic paint. The 3-core electrical cable is encased in a hard-wearing, braided, polyester sleeve and is fitted with a 3 amp, UK plug. The lamp comes with a FREE 40W, 80mm dia. retro, Edison filament bulb.
*PLEASE NOTE: This lamp is made to order. Please allow up to 14 days from ordering to delivery. As the lamp is constructed from industrial components the final piece might differ slightly from that shown in the images. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided with this lamp.
