This colourful and vibrant mosaic tray is handmade and unique. You will receive the actual item in the photographs.
The design is a flower mandala created in stained glass, iridescent art glass tiles, glass murrini and recycled glass tiles in different shapes and sizes all in shades of rich reds and golden yellows. The centrepiece is an upcycled piece of enamel jewellery. It is finished with black grout for contrast. The upcycled wood tray is painted black and sealed with lacquer.
I love how the vibrant colours pop and the iridescent tiles change colour in the light. This lively piece of functional art will really bring some sunshine to your morning tea or coffee, even on the darkest days!
Dimensions: 24.5 cm x 17.5 cm x 2.5 cm ( 9.75 x 7 x 1 inches approx)
Hello! My name is Carol Ahmed. I have had a lifelong love of mosaic and having recently given up work, I have been able to spend more time creating mosaics. I love designing – playing with pattern, colour and shape. I was always the kid ( and the grown up to be honest!) making patterns in the sand with pebbles and shells. . I like combining mosaic tiles with other materials – especially upcycled jewellery and beads, but also other ‘found’ materials: driftwood, stone etc. I search for interesting objects to upcycle and use as bases or detail. I like to recycle and re-use whenever possible. I also like that an object that is individually sourced will suggest ideas for designs and colours to develop in the finished item. Some of my pieces have strong geometric patterns, influenced by Moorish and Islamic art and architecture. Other pieces explore curves, waves and spirals, inspired by the natural world and classical mosaic art. Each item is unique, finished with craftsmanship and attention to detail.
