Millefleur refers to a background style of many different small flowers and plants, usually shown on a green ground, as though growing in grass. It is essentially restricted to European tapestry during the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The style had a notable revival by Morris & Co in 19th century England, being used on tapestry designs, as well as illustrations.

Glass fragments are cut from a sheet then hand painted and flooded using traditional glass paint. It is then fired in a kiln at 660 degrees centigrade . Shadows and depth are then added by futher painting and shading and the pieces are fired again. The glass is assembled into a panel using sections of lead came which are soldered at the joins. Blackened putty is pushed between the came edge and the glass to hold it firm.

The panel is completely weatherproof and can be placed outside all year round or hung indoors in your window to catch the light.
