This lovely vintage box was probably handmade, originally housed tools of some sort and likely lived in a shed!
It’s been transformed into something fit for the home and as there and four drawers and two compartments inside, it makes perfect decorative storage for art or craft supplies, make up or miscellaneous treasures.
The entire piece has been painted in chalk paint then embellished with a hand painted design inspired by folk art and the arts and crafts movement. The botanical elements are loosely based on fuchsia, Kenilworth ivy, eucalyptus and campanula and are painted in metallic copper and golds with white highlights. The moth is painted in the same pallette and imagined.
The piece has been sealed with varnish and wax to protect it; care should still be taken if placing things on the exterior surface or inside – as with any surface these can be damaged if not treated carefully.
There is the option to add brass wall fixings to allow this to become a wall mounted cabinet – just let me know if you’d like these.
As with all my vintage pieces this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character and charm – this has imperfections in the wood.
