Description
A very large Benin bronze leopard head. These wonderful pieces were made by the lost-wax process in Nigeria. They have been made by hand in this traditional style and method for hundreds of years, so each leopard is unique. These are late 20th century examples made for the West. Genuine antique pieces were originally used as decoration for the Benin Royal family and are an important part of the history of African art. This stunning piece is approximately 30.5cm long x 16cm tall x 18cm wide. It would make such a beautiful and unusual gift!
