Description

This framed iconic Hurricane is a mixture of techniques; kiln formed glass, digital drawing and image manipulation to create the silhouette.

(also available are a Lancaster, a Spitfire and a Dakota – the BBMF team)

First, the coloured background is created using a variety of glass powders. Each one is hand sifted, each one is unique and I cannot accurately predict the outcome or distribution and depth of colour.

A layer of glass is added on top to create depth and dimension to the picture, and this top layer is either screen printed with glass enamels, or a specially made decal is applied (images created with special pigments). Either way, the image is applied by hand, and then fired to ensure permanence (the pigments in the decals and enamels fuse fully to the glass, they don’t just sit on the surface)

The glass is fired twice in one my specialist digitally controlled glass fusing kilns and annealed for strength and durability – each firing cycle takes between 18 and 24 hours.

This piece is framed in a deep frame; this one is black “polcore” (recycled material, and the frames are made in the UK) which has a grain finish and backed with complementary mountboard. The frame can either free-standing as it is approx 1″ (2.5cm deep), or be wall hung, as there is hanging bar inside the back – aperture is approximately 5″ (13cm) and outer size is about 17cm

I aim to despatch all orders (if the item is in stock) within two working days of cleared payment. If an item is made to order, I will give you an estimate. I use Royal Mail First Class unless otherwise stated or requested.

Return Policy

I want you to be happy with your purchase! You can return it within 7 days of receipt; just notify me as soon as possible. I am happy to rectify any problems, and I offer a full refund (less shipping fees), provided it arrives back with me in the original condition. If you would like to cancel an order please notify me as soon as possible quoting your sales reference or the names of products purchased. If the item has already been dispatched you will be charged the shipping fee. When returning an item please include a copy of the invoice or a detailed list of the names of products purchased. Until the item reaches me it remains your responsibility. I suggest you use a postal service which will insure you for the value of the items. This does not affect your statutory rights.
