Handmade quarter leather bound notebook

Description

This handmade notebook book is special! It is quarter bound in high-quality black goatskin bookbinding leather and green book cloth. It features hand-marbled endpapers from Pay Hembury. It is a book that will outlast the owner and would make a unique and beautiful gift for an anniversary or birthday.
300 pages of 120 gsm plain, unlined cream paper
Dimensions: L21.8 x W15.8 x D2.9 cm
This book took many hours to make. These were some of the steps in its creation:
– the paper for the book block is folded in half and then arranged in sections
– the sections are pierced and sewn with linen thread on tapes
– the end papers are made and sewn onto the book block
– the book block is rounded and backed in a laying press
– the spine of the book block is lined with a hollow and the endbands are added
– the boards are cut from greyboard and the mull and tapes are glued onto the boards
– the leather is cut to size and pared and edge-pared by hand
– paste is applied to the leather and the spine is covered
– the joints are set and the cap is formed
– the rest of the boards are covered in the book cloth
– the endpapers are glued down
– the book is left in the press and voilà, it is ready!
