Caring for silver
Wash your silver immediately after use in hot, soapy water. Rinse with hot water, and dry thoroughly with a soft flannel or cotton cloth. Or you may want to dry pieces with a Silver Butler cloth, which has a cleaning agent built in. Do not let your silver air dry, because water left standing can cause spotting. Creams, cleaners and other household products can affect your silver. Store in the original packaging or in a soft bag on its own.
I include a polishing cloth with every order.
Corrine Thorne is a glass artist specialising in silver set fused glass and Memorial jewellery.
Based in the beautiful county of Devon creating pieces of original jewellery using her own expertly fused glass and setting it in handmade silver. Predominantly working from home, she uses a microwave kiln to form beautiful unique works of wearable art. Corrine also teaches microwave kiln glass fusing from home.
Each piece of jewellery is created by Corrine from scratch. Taking a piece of glass, or in many cases, many of pieces of glass and turning it into something beautiful. It’s wearable art. Utilising silver wire and sheet to design and create the settings for the glass as well as making many other types of jewellery. As well as glass to encapsulate ashes, Corrine uses resin as an alternative or when working with fragile components such as hair and baby teeth.
Corrine has been creating jewellery with glass for over 15 years and working with silver since 2015. She is passionate about making unique jewellery for people and this is echoed in her memorial jewellery. Designing stunning pieces of glass with cremation ashes encased inside taking into acclunt her clients’ wishes, design ideas and personal preferences. Each piece is lovingly crafted by hand with the utmost respect, resulting in a usmique item you will treasure.
‘it’s my sole reason for learning silver smithing. I wanted to be able to create my own settings for the beautiful glass I create and involve the client in the design process, ultimately making a very personal memorial piece encapsulating the ashes of a loved one or pet. I want to enable people to keep them close by’
I am consistently thinking of new designs for both my jewellery ranges and my memorial jewellery. My designs evolve.
Corrine’s experience in jewellery making is a mix of self education, college, work experience with jewellers and alot of hands on experience.
