Watch roots, stems, and leaves grow within a few days in a colourful nutrient-rich gel.
The Plantlet Culture kit is designed to germinate Pea seeds, all within a 10cm x 2cm test tube.
The gel is a unique recipe that contains the optimum balance of phytohormones designed specifically for this plant variety.
The test tubes can be used all year round, just place in a warm room near a window.
We have added a ‘growing scale’ to each of the tubes this allows measurements [cms] to be taken while the stems, leaves and roots are growing in the tube.
As an extension activity –
Once mature the test tube plant can be grown outside, potted into compost and developed into a full-size plant. The test tube can be recycled or repurposed for example as a rain gauge, a container for a bug hunt or a tube for storing seeds.

2 x Mini test tubes with Blue growing gel.
2 x Growing scales attached to the test tubes.
2 x Pea seeds in a sealed bag (130mm x 90mm). The Pea variety* will be Sugar Ann.
1 x Plant variety label.
1 x Mini test tube of antibacterial soap to wash the seeds.
1 x Mini test tube for rinsing the seeds in water.
1 x Plastic disposable tweezers.
1 x Seed instruction (85mm x 55mm) card.
1 x Growing on instruction (150mm x 105mm) card.
1 x Activity test tube sheet** (210mm x 148mm).
1 x Resealable plastic bag (205mm x 125mm).
* If the listed variety is not available a substitution will be made and you will be advised.
