Glass Tealight Holder in Ice Clear

Description

This glass votive is perfect to sit on your window sill, or on your dinner table. Made with iridised clear glass, and then hand decorated with clear frit to add texture – the glass shimmers with rainbow iridescence, like oil on water. It changes in different lights and different angles. It is a frosty, icicle glass

These handkerchief tealight holders are handmade – each square of glass cut indivdually, then frit is placed by hand, carefully avoiding what will the base, so it will sit flat. The pieces are then fused and fully annealed* for strength and durability in one of the specialist, digitally controlled, studio glass kilns, before going back in to the kiln a second time to be slumped, to create the draped handkerchief effect. There is little control over this process, so the points are often slightly different. Each tealight is totally unique both in terms of decoration, and shape. The finished item is approximately 9cm tall and 10cm wide in both directions (it fits in a 10cm box!). Votives are supplied with a safety battery tealight. You can use wax tealights in these, but please ensure the candle stays in it’s cup, preferably one of the glass or plastic ones, but never use a candle on it’s own, and never leave a candle unattended.

These items are handmade in my studio in Derbyshire, there is a large range of colours available.

*Anneaing is the processing of controlling the temperature of the glass during the cooling down period – this takes any stresses out of the glass that may have built up during the fusing part of the program. It makes the glass stronger and more durable.
