This glass tea light holder is perfect to sit on your window sill, or on your dinner table. Made with iridised clear glass, and then hand decorated with deep red frit and green confetti to add texture and the appearance of holly berries – the glass shimmers with rainbow iridescence, like oil on water. It changes in different lights and different angles.
These handkerchief tealight holders are handmade – each square of glass cut indivdually, then frit is placed by hand, carefully avoiding what will the base, so it will sit flat. The pieces are then fused and fully annealed (a controlled cooling down process) in one of the specialist, digitally controlled, studio glass kilns, before going back in to the kiln a second time to be slumped to create the draped handkerchief effect. There is little control over this process, the the points sometimes are different. Each tealight is totally unique both in terms of decoration, and shape. The finished item is approximately 9cm tall and 10cm wide in both directions (it fits in a 10cm box!). Tealights are supplied with a safety battery tealight. You can use wax tealights in these, but please ensure the candle stays in it’s cup, preferably one of the glass or plastic ones, but never use a candle on it’s own, and never leave a candle unattended.
These items are handmade in my studio in Derbyshire, there is a large range of colours available.
