These really beautiful handmade fair trade yoga/meditation/pilates mat bags are made with love and care by the HMONG hill tribes of Lanna Country in Northern Thailand.
The bags showcase a really stunning embroidered brightly coloured material, a fuschia pink cotton inner lining, a zipper closure with a pom pom and zip pull that have bells inside that tinkle lightly when moved and a black adjustable sling shoulder strap. The bag pattern incorporates some subtle glitter sewing thread looks fabulous when in bright light.
These come in White, Black or Blue ‘Birds of Paradise’ variations (see separate listing for Blue Option).
DIMENSIONS (when empty/flat):
Width: 8″ inches (20cm)
Height : 28″ inches (71cm)
All embroidered items are unique and no item is exactly the same – therefore, each bag has varying brightly coloured pom pom colours with slightly different coloured trims above and below the main bag motif, which remains the same throughout.
WHAT IS HMONG EMBOIDERY?
The Hmong people are known for their exquisite textile art and needlework skills. Importantly, these traditional skills are passed down from generation to generation. Hmong emboidery is identified by their use of bold and brightly coloured motifs and threads, traditionally incorporated into their traditional elaborate clothing as well as ‘story cloths’ that depicted the history of their people.
I established Joglo Trading on returning to the UK after 3 years living in beautiful tropical Bali in Indonesia: home to some of the best craftsman, artisan workers and designers in the world. Bali exports many things worldwide and this beautiful island is the destination for thousands of European and Australian shop owners/buyers. I discovered that almost none of these artisans or Balinese shops had UK or Northern European buyers – product mainly headed to Barcelona, South of France, Italy, Ibiza, etc. Well! I thought it only fair that UK nationals should also have access to the same stylish, unique gifts and fashion accessories at affordable prices and so, I established Joglo Trading! After a lot of shoe leather, I put together a wonderful small crew of Indonesian artisan workers and craftsmen and women ,who I personally commission, to individually hand make or handfinish items listed in my shop while sourcing more stylish items from further afield. Joglo Trading sources what’s hot, on-trend and being ordered and favoured by international shoppers and shop owners, direct from the source to your doormat! I very much hope you enjoy the products that Joglo Trading brings directly to your door.
As an independent small e-commerce shop owner, in order to keep costs down for my customers, the post and packaging prices are based on sending orders via the Royal Mail 2nd class signed for service.
