A pair of very attractive, genuine Ethiopian Welo Opal sterling silver stud earrings. The opals are solid rather than a doublet or triplet and measure approximately 4mm across (0.16 inch). It is a cabochon cut set into a delicate 4 claw sterling silver setting. The opals are completely untreated and natural
The opals both display plenty of colour play with mainly green flashes showing throughout the opals as you move them through the light. As with any opal the colour shown varies with the light, and the background, which is part of their fascination in my view. All my photos are taken indoors using daylight bulbs for lighting.
Did you know opals are October’s birthstone? It is associated with confidence, loyalty, and happiness. They are often also perceived to be stones associated with healing. Ethiopian opals are associated with the base and sacral chakras.
The opals I chose are similar to each other but not identical as they’re natural untreated opals.
