Crochet Necklace, long, beads, organza, nickel free, green

1 in stock

Long crochet ball necklace with delicate charms made of glass, crystal and ceramic beads and tiny pieces of fabric. Three shades of threads are combined to crochet the ball that forms the main element of the pendant.

The metal I have used is nickel free. I incorporated small pieces of ribbon, organza and fabric flowers for a light, romantic, feminine look.

The necklace is 80 cm’s long, the pendant is 3.8 cm’s tall.

I find the world of colours enchanting, I love the thousand faces they show when combined in different ways. Texture is my other passion: the way it emphasizes the form of objects, and evokes various atmospheres.

When making jewelry I love creating objects that are noticed when worn. I strive to prepare my jewelry with the utmost attention to detail and the best craftsmanship I can achieve.

I owe my love of handmade objects to my family. My mother knitted me my first hooded sweater when I was but a few weeks old, and which I still used to sport in photos at the age of three, as she crocheted extra rows as I grew. I remember our intarsia coffee table that my father – a linguist by profession – made, complete with chess and Mills boards (on top of it an 11-kilo ash tray, he made from a 2nd World War bomb shell he had found). It was an inspiring home.

I started machine sewing when I was 12, and it is still a loved hobby. I took up jewelry making 10 years ago – I started with beading, then I went on to wire working. (Easy job: I borrowed a few tools from my husband. :-)

In a few years I started delivering courses in bead shops, and wrote 2 books on jewelry making.

As I became confident with pliers and beading needles, my imagination inspired me to further adventures: I started incorporating textiles, leather and occasionally wool in my jewelry. With this I feel I found my artistic media.
