Ceramic Stoneware Green Man Plaque, Frost proof garden ornament, wall plaque

1 in stock

This green man wall plaque has the name Earh II (meaning Coward!), it has been inspired by the Green Man plaques seen in the eaves of old churches. The Green Man was a pagan symbol which was adopted by Christians as a way to encourage people to come inside and worship in their churches. They are a symbol associated with spring and new life.

All Embar pottery Green men are made free hand (no moulds here!) which means they all have a unique personality and we like to give them a unique name! Also all our Green Man range are frost-proof, so you can leave attached to your wall or fence all year round.

This Green Man has been made from stoneware crank clay and finished in a mottled green / red glaze. Spot his moustache and goaty. It still retains the traditional idea of leaves coming from the eyes or mouth of the man. Traditionally oak or vine leaves were used and I like to continue this tradition.

Earh II is approx 26 cm in diameter. He has 2 holes to enable him to be screwed to your wall or fence.

I am a self-employed potter working from my own studio using stoneware clay.  I enjoy making quirky, individual items to enhance the home or garden.

Whilst some of my products have a natural textured finish, others are bright and cheery, but all involve me creating individual, hand built ideas inspired by myths and legends or the natural world.

My daughter Em deals with the business side of the pottery.  This ranges from organising my website and facebook page, book keeping and pricing.  She is also a dab hand at selling my products
