A shallow dish made from lightly textured stoneware clay and decorated with a sand matt glaze, edged with oxide and filled with beautiful recycled dark green glass from a well known gin bottle. A lovely ‘tide line’ has been created where the glaze meets the edge of the glass. The ammonite is handcrafted. Pieces of recycled glass from a gin bottle are placed in the bisque fired dish and re-fired to 1240C. The glass melts and expands then contracts when cooling down. This causes the glass to crackle under the smooth surface and produces the tide line. These dishes are smooth inside and textured around the very edge and underneath, which has my maker’s stamp. You will receive this dish, which is ready to post.
Approximate dish size: 11.5cm diameter x 1.5-2cm deep
The final image shows how the dish will be presented if you opt for the dish to be gift boxed – please see the separate listing. Included in the gift box is an information leaflet on the inspiration behind these dishes, which are based on magical childhood memories spent holidaying on Cornwall’s rugged beaches.
