A shallow dish made from lightly textured stoneware clay and decorated with a ‘sand’ glaze, edged with oxide and filled with beautiful recycled green glass from a very well known gin bottle. A lovely tide line has been created where the glaze meets the edge of the glass. Pieces of recycled glass from a gin bottle are placed in the bisque fired dish and re-fired to 1240C. The glass melts and expands then contracts when cooling down. This causes the glass to crackle under the smooth surface and produces the tide line. These dishes are smooth inside and textured around the very edge and underneath, which have my maker’s stamp.
Two dishes are available – if you have a preference please let me know which of the first two images you prefer otherwise I will select one at random.
Approximate dish size: 11cm diameter x 1.5-2cm deep
The final image shows how a dish will be presented if you opt for the dish to be gift boxed – please see the separate listing. Included in the gift box is an information leaflet on the inspiration behind these dishes, which are based on magical childhood memories spent holidaying on Cornwall’s rugged beaches.
