Description

Fabulous lightweight wooden earrings which can be worn to brighten up any outfit. Each wooden disc has been adapted with freehand pyrography. Each piece is one of a kind and completely unique. Created by ETP member Kirsty Dalton.

I finished each earring with varnish to give it a protective coat.

Thank you for stopping by our page. The Emerging Turners Programme (ETP) was created by the Register of Professional Turners (RPT) for up-and-coming, UK-based woodturners with a professional ambition and outlook. The selection criteria comprises age between 18 and 35 yrs, that they be turning practitioners, be running their own business, working for furniture/woodworking companies and/or wanting to pursue artistic turning. The programme gathers these emerging turners together creating a network of talented makers. It also provides much needed training, encouragement and support in the business aspect of woodturning. The workshops provide a safe place to ask questions and glean wisdom from the established professional tutors on hand, but also from each other. With copy-machines, CNC, laser cutters and 3D printing available to all, hand turning may be seen as archaic, even arcane, labour intensive, expensive and redundant. Therefore, the demographic of woodturning in the UK must change and we need to be identifying, supporting and encouraging the next generation of woodturners, artists and makers-in-wood so that they may continue to develop new ways of using a lathe for their work and as a jumping off point for their artwork in wood. The workshops are the first step in doing something for the future of woodturning and wood art. The ETP picks up from where the AWGB Youth Training Programme finishes. The training programme relies solely on charitable donations. 100% of sales here go directly to funding the training programme. Each piece of work that you see listed has been generously donated by it's creator and is a testament to their passion and excitement in supporting the Emerging Turners Programme.
