These orange and blue upcycled postage stamp earrings are one of a kind, made of several layers of postage stamps from around the world, there will never be another pair exactly like them. The perfect gift for her! Handmade by KTsCreatureComforts.
They measure 4cm/1.6inches long and 2.5cm/0.9inches wide.
Each stamp has been backed with light weight paper to give them strength, then carefully cut into ovals and stacked to form each individual earring – because of the range of stamps used, these earrings are similar but not an identical pair.
Each stamp has been coated with clear drying glue, and this makes them water resistant up to a point, but they will not survive being submerged in water.
The findings used to complete these earrings are either sterling silver or brass.
On the back of each pair of earrings will be a random tiny hand drawn creature…those creatures get everywhere!
The Crazy Creature Lady!
I live in Northumberland at the moment, but I’m originally from Aberdeen. That’s where the creatures started, from a book about making hand sewn dolls, bought for me by my mother. I started with the patterns in the book…and then sort of branched out.
My first entirely unique designs weren’t exactly perfect, but I didn’t let that stop me, and I like to think the creatures I sell now have improved a bit from those initial creations! But it started out as a hobby, and it wasn’t until I lost my job a few years ago, that I thought what the hell, why not try to sell them?
There are some wonderful charity shops and that’s where the majority of my materials come from, I love raiding them for clothing and fabrics and bits and bobs. The majority of my creatures were originally a skirt, or a shirt, or a pair of trousers, and because of these unique beginnings, each of my creatures is unique.
I love making them, and I like to think that they add a touch of quirkiness and joy to those who buy them!
