This bespoke stool has been upholstered in burgundy Genuine Harris Tweed herringbone wool fabric with buttons for added detail.
The beautiful wooden legs have been recycled from an old footstool and have been painted in Annie Sloan Paris Grey chalk paint and have a clear coat of satin varnish for added protection. The stool has been upholstered by my wife using fire-safe materials and includes a fire retardant calico interliner to comply with Furniture and Furnishings Regulations.
We source the beautiful Harris Tweeds from one of two independent weavers both working from the Outer Hebrides and each stool bares the Harris Tweed Authority’s trademark Orb authenticity label.
The aim of my business is to upcycle vintage furniture and to reclaim wood where possible to design and produce bespoke items that my customers will appreciate for their beauty once again. Through the process of upcycling, I am taking an item that may have gone out of fashion or lost its ‘sparkle’ and re-inventing it so avoiding the problem of waste cycling and the environmental issues related to this. The beauty of working with such a diverse range of reclaimed wood and furniture is that each piece can be made totally unique and is, therefore, one of a kind and hopefully a conversation piece for my customers.I have spent many years restoring my cottage which was originally a barn and as a consequence, I have found a love for the rustic French country cottage style of decoration and furniture. Over the years I have filled my house with an eclectic range of different pieces of furniture that I have bought and refurbished, my shop is now an extension of this passion. I only source good quality solid furniture that has character and that I would love in my own home, thus some things never make it to my shop! I take great care in painting, reinventing and distressing these pieces so that each piece is refurbished to the quality I would expect myself.
