Stunning vintage hand carved wooden rocking horse.
Definitely in the carousel style given the stance.
Unique patina and now on the bench being refinished.
Unlike the majority of the ones ive seen this one actually looks like a horse and definitely has alot of character.
Solid wood and carved in the native american style,featuring coloured feathers, carved reins and tack,the saddle is carved as is the blanket it sits on and there is a cute little dog at the rear poking out from under the saddle. (More pics to follow when complete) it will also have a genuine horse hair tail in black to match the beautifully hand carved mane.
Sitting on a rocking base in black with gold detailing.
A name could be added to the base if required to personalise.
The pics you see are the areas already waxed. We have the mane,base and tail to finish.
Has the unique feature that the centre of the log it has been carved from runs from front to back right through it and really shows that the body its carved from a single log.
This is a solid horse (ive sat on it myself)
Of course given its age there are cracks that have been repaired and stabalised but it all just adds to the character and doesnt detract from it at all.
