In Greek mythology, Atlas was the son of the Titan Lapetus and the Oceanid Clymene, and brother of Prometheus (the creator of humankind). Atlas was one of the Titans who took part in their war against Zeus, King of the Olympian Gods, for which, as a punishment he was condemned to hold aloft the heavens.
This lamp is my representation of Atlas as he struggles to bear, not a celestial globe, but a 125mm diameter Edison filament bulb! He is painted in gold with copper accents for his hands, feet and face (where you also find the lamp’s switch), and sits atop an Indian rosewood base. The lamp will also arrive with a 100mm x 20mm brass plaque fixed to the front edge of the wooden base and engraved with the lamp’s name and Atlas’ heritage.
Constructed from British-made galvanised iron pipefittings. The 3-core electrical cable is encased in a hard-wearing, braided, polyester sleeve and is fitted with a 3 amp, UK plug. The lamp comes with a FREE 60W, retro Edison filament bulb and is earthed and fully PAT tested.
*PLEASE NOTE: This lamp is handmade to order, so please allow up to 14 days from order to dispatch*
