A downloadable (PDF format) counted cross stitch chart of a Poppy at Sunset. The wording is part of ‘The Exhortation’ from a poem written by Robert Laurence Binyon called “For the Fallen”, written in mid-September 1914, just a few weeks after the outbreak of The War.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.”
The finished project will be 14.3 x 9.4 inches when done on 14 count Aida, having 200 x 132 stitches and using 38 colours of silks.
