Description
Hand turned in Wiltshire, this small box is individually made from Panga Panga. The lid is a press fit and the inside diameter is 3cm with a depth of approximately 4 cm including a rounded bottom. This would make an ideal box for a ring or similar sized piece of jewellery.
On leaving the army in 2017 after a 33 year career, George Shapland studied under the Master Turner Stuart Mortimer and became a full time turner in 2018. He turned professional in 2019 with Stuart’s encouragement and launched Butterwood. He was accepted onto the Register of Professional Turners in September 2019. Although he focuses on segmented designs, he enjoys working with all woods and often undertake commissions using a clients own wood. George is active in the local art community in the Salisbury area, where he has exhibited in the Amesbury Art Gallery, the Hampshire Open Studios and is a regular at the Salisbury Art Scene.
