Kind of an appropriate one to add right now, I thought. Just for you, Etsy….
I do recommend reading George Orwell’s classic novel 1984. There’s just so much of the world today in it; it seems someone took it as an instruction manual rather than a work of fiction. Anyway, it tells the story of Winston Smith, a member of The Party, who dares to go against the Party orthodoxy and is tortured and eventually executed. Yeah, cheerful stuff. Ironically the Ministry of Truth, for which Winston worked in producing propaganda and destroying news which went against The Party, was based on the BBC.
Hmm, funny that….
This coaster shows the logo of the INSOC Party (INGSOC standing for English Socialism) from the movie adaptation of 1984, starring the cinematic legends Sir John Hurt and Richard Burton, the latter playing his last role before his death. It’s a really vivid and disturbing movie, but I still very much recommend it. So now you can park your Party-approved coffee on the proper item to protect your Party-approved desk!
There is no anti-slip coating on the back of this coaster; applying one would mean that it would be less able to be used for other purposes, so to give you more of a range of options the back of the coaster remains bare. If you need an anti-slip option you can order a stick-on cork pad separately in the store and they will be shipped with your order. The cork pads are sold, coincidentally, from single to pack of 6.
